A musical wedding in the heart of the Trossachs
A Duchray Castle wedding is always going to be an intimate affair as the castle isn’t exactly the biggest one in Scotland but as we all know big isn’t necessarily beautiful and what it’s lacking in scale it more than makes up for in atmosphere and charm. And for Emma and Mark’s wedding an additional dimension over and above all the atmosphere and charm was live music! Many of the guests were musicians and many had travelled from the Middle East for the big day so it wasn’t long before I realised that everyone was out for a serious party and live music was going to be a big part of every stage of the day.
An intimate venue
The weather in Scotland can be unpredictable to say the least and it was touch and go as to whether the weather would behave at the crucial moment. Frances who runs things at a Duchray Castle wedding is amazingly calm and was able to move the chairs around and delay the start of the ceremony by a few minutes while a heavy shower passed through. By the time Emma and Mark were exchanging vows the sun was shining and no rain had penetrated the tubes of the tuba, French horn, trombone or trumpets!
Natural unposed Duchray Castle wedding photography
The whole concept of natural, unposed wedding photography is brilliantly suited to Duchray Castle because of the size of the weddings it attracts and the nature of the space, inside and out. Emma and Mark’s day was wonderfully relaxed and informal with fabulous food and an amazing party – it was a joy to be left to simply observe the day, capture the mood and preserve the memories.
