FIONA & CRAIG’S DRUMTOCHTY CASTLE WEDDING
A beautiful Drumtochty Castle wedding in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire with rolling countryside and a lovely church at the end of the drive.
I arrived at the castle about an hour before the ceremony. The place was basking in July sunshine and looking gorgeous for the day ahead.
The girls were all getting ready upstairs in a lovely big light bedroom looking over the driveway from where they could see the comings and goings of the groomsmen and guests.
We all headed down to the church for an intimate and emotional ceremony and then a lovely walk in the warm sunshine back up the drive. The Castle wedding staff were waiting with champagne and canapes and the reception was underway.

A relaxed wedding portrait in the golden evening light
I am a documentary wedding photographer and almost all the photos taken during the day are authentic unposed reportage photography. For most couples, however, I shoot some wedding portraits.
After the meal and the speeches when all the formal parts of the day are over, it’s a great time to catch the couple at their most relaxed. I often ask them if they’d like to come away from their guests for a few minutes for some portraits.
It’s usually the first opportunity they’ve had to be on their own together and catch up on all the excitement of the day so far.
This was the case with Fiona and Craig and they jumped at the chance for a private moment. The setting at the front of the castle was gorgeous and the lighting couldn’t have been better. I gave them no direction at all other than to ask them to walk down the drive away from the castle and the results were stunning.

Ashley truly did a wonderful job and we have so many beautiful candid photos which really tell the story of our special day. So unobtrusive, flexible and efficient, not only is he an amazing photographer but a lovely chap too. Would highly recommend.
