GORGEOUS SAME-SEX WEDDING IN GLASGOW
This was the first same-sex or gay wedding that I had photographed at The House for an Art Lover. As always this wonderful venue provided the perfect canvas for my storytelling approach. The building has become a Glasgow institution in recent years celebrating one of it’s most famous sons, the architect, artist and designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
I have worked there many times covering all manner of functions. However, I feel that there is one particular type of event that is perfect for this venue. It is when the contrasting spaces of the bright, light Music Room and the substantial dark Main Hall are full of the love, joy and celebration of a wedding party.
The House for an Art Lover as a perfect setting
Kirsten and Gemma’s wedding was certainly full to the brim of all of the above. There was a real sense of anticipation and excitement amongst the guests as they awaited the arrival of the two brides. And their mood was spot on because the day turned into a real belter!!
It had been raining in the morning but the skies cleared after the ceremony. So this allowed everyone to go down to the gardens to enjoy a clear crisp spring afternoon. Once I’d done a few family group shots and some portraits of the couple in the walled garden everyone returned to the Main Hall and the celebrations began to crank up!
I’ll let the pictures tell you the full story…..
KIND WORDS FROM KIRSTEN AND GEMMA
Hi Ashley,
I have been meaning to write this email for a week! We wanted to let you know that we received the albums safely and could not be happier with them! They are just beautiful! Gem’s mum and dad have theirs already and were delighted. We will hopefully get my mum and dad together soon to give them their one too.
