I won’t take over your day
It’s is much more than just taking fast bursts of photos and hoping for a result.
It’s your wedding and I will tell the story beautifully.
Watching, anticipating and remaining unobtrusive – this is how I capture the love, the interactions and the joy. So many of the little moments you may not even know happened!
Before you dive into the website, why not have a look at the photofilm below to see what I’m talking about….

You’ll find lots of weddings I have photographed from venues all over Scotland. Small and intimate Village Halls, as well as grand occasions in castles and stately homes.
Whatever type of wedding you’re planning, I will apply the same dedication and professionalism to preserving all the emotions and memories for your lifetime together.

My Experience – your wedding in safe hands
I have been a full time professional photojournalist since I was 21, working regularly for publications such as The Times, Guardian, Independent and Telegraph over a period of 15 years. Then in 2012 I started my wedding photography career. Now I have built on my Fleet Street experience to produce meaningful work in which I hope you will find depth and soul.
Every time you look at your wedding pictures, you will see something new in them.

Weaving together your wedding story
At every wedding, however large or small, there is always a lot going on. You will have spent so much time planning and anticipating all the big moments and every little detail you can think of.
But each wedding is also full of moments that couldn’t be planned for or anticipated – things that go right and things that go wrong. As a Documentary Wedding Photographer in Scotland these are the in-between moments which I am constantly on the look out for.
They form such an emotive part of the story of your day and fill the spaces between the big set pieces with laughter, joy and emotion. They make up the memories for your future together.
- Natural and unscripted moments
- No awkward poses – if you feel awkward, it’s going to look awkward
- The action, reaction and interaction captured authentically “in the moment”
- The exchange of glances, the way you look at each other, the surge of emotion

Kind words…
We can’t recommend Ashley highly enough. We chose him as we love his documentary approach and his love of light. He delivered, and then some. Both of us loath having our photo taken – we now have a portfolio of photos where, quite frankly – we look fabulous! He was so unobtrusive we hardly realised he was there half the time, but he was, capturing magical moments that will enable us to re-live our perfect day time and time again.

Group photos and Couple Portraits
I specialise in Documentary Wedding Photography but a small and important part of most of the weddings I photograph are the family groups and couple portraits.
A handful of traditional wedding pictures done for a silver frame on the mantlepiece. Some of the older generation expect to have group photos taken and it’s often an opportunity to capture groups of people who rarely come together.
I will plan these photos with you in advance of the wedding and advise how to capture the ones you want in the most efficient way. I work with the minimum of fuss so you are back to your friends and family and I’m back to photographing the real action as quickly as possible!
