I headed down to Duns for this Scottish Borders Wedding last June for a truly spectacular and romantic day – one of my favourites of 2015! I’ve been very excited about writing this post because there are so many wonderful pictures I want to share with you…. so I’ve decided to split the post into two sections.
This is the first part of the day: the preparations, so full of excitement, the anticipation building to the most beautiful and emotional ceremony at the ancient Swinton Kirk in the Scottish Borders.
Then in a second post I’ll show the part of the day (and late into the night) back at the house – the reception, some fabulous group photos, the walled garden, the marquee, the dancing and so much fun, celebration and romance.
As a documentary wedding photographer looking to tell the story of the day in an authentic and natural way this wedding was a perfect opportunity for me. With so many stages and so many layers to each stage there was never a dull moment.
Jess and Neil chose the closest Saturday to mid-summer for their wedding day and in a year of record breaking rainfall they were truly blessed with one of the most perfect days of the whole summer. The karma of the gods was definitely working in their favour – no couple could be more deserving of a break in the rain soaked summer as these two after the massive amounts of creative energy, elegant styling and down-right hard work that went into making this wedding the huge success and visual feast it turned out to be!
My day started as I walked into a bustling and busy room at the centre of which sat Jess, still, serene and beautiful in rollers, being given a massage by her aunt…… wonderful!
