If you ask a photographer to choose the ideal weekend for a wedding, the one before Christmas would not be the first choice for many. It’s the shortest day of the year so daylight (a photographer’s best friend) is in pretty short supply and the weather is almost certain to be awful (all the bright, crisp, frosty white Christmases are used up for the next decade at least).
But after shooting this wedding, I say “Yes please, bring it on!”
Mix together the pre-Christmas fortnight of excitement and anticipation with a double shot of that warm, cozy, loved-up vibe that comes with a good wedding at any time of the year. Add a large measure of the convivial, homely, atmosphere that Callander’s Roman Camp never fails to provide, give it a good shake, pour over ice and decorate with a large sprig of Greer’s irrepressible smile (see below). You’ve just made yourself a “Best Day of the Year for a Wedding” cocktail – beats a Snowball any day!
