Here’s a first look at Rob and Ellie’s wedding last weekend. It was at Dalhousie Castle, a historic 13th century Scottish fortress on the banks of the River Esk near Edinburgh.
The venue is a dream for anyone who loves dramatic photography.
In the castle, the architecture creates a style of light that provides a bold contrast between light and dark with a theatrical atmosphere permeating every setting. This is very challenging for a reportage photographer as, unlike a theatrical production, the great moments aren’t designed to happen in the best light. So there’s a degree of chance to it all but this is the nature of documentary photography and it’s what creates the character and true narrative of the set of photos which represent the day.
Here’s some of my favourites….
